Body Balance Biology
Students will investigate the body's physiological response to cold and its effect on sweat glands, skin surface temperature and core body temperature utilising some of BioLAB most cutting edge technologies, including; IR camera, digital microscopes and physiological sensors to log primary student data.
Body Balance will also see students investigate symptoms that are common in endurance athletes and can be an indicator of a disorder associated with homeostasis, utilising an ELISA technique to measure hormones involved in temperature response.
Key themes:Body systems, structural, physiological and behavioural adaptations, feedback loop, homeostasis and malfunctions in homeostatic mechanisms.
Suitable for: VCE Biology Units 3-4 Program
Duration: 2hrs Maximum class size: 28
